Daniel Layshock comes to the Seventh Judicial District from Las Animas and Huerfano counties in south-central Colorado, working as a Deputy DA in the Third Judicial District and has experience on both the prosecution and defense side of legal proceedings.
Daniel was born in Salisbury, Maryland, a small town 25 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, where he worked various service and tourism jobs growing up and received his bachelor’s degree in Criminology from the University of Maryland. After receiving his bachelor’s, Daniel decided to move West, where he attended law school at the University of Denver. During his time in law school, Daniel coached the Grandview High School mock trial team, provided representation for moderate-income individuals in DU’s Criminal Defense Clinic, and held a summer internship with the Maryland Office of the Public Defender.
Daniel joined the Seventh Judicial District Attorney’s Office in September 2018, where he currently works in the Delta office. In his free time, Daniel enjoys driving and hiking the trails of the San Juan and West Elk mountains.
